CSA Spring Newsletter: May 16th, 2022 (Week 3)

Howdy Folks,

We have an Online Market that you can now order from.  Currently listed on the store we have our Certified Organic seedlings.  We have a little bit for everyone.  We mostly have veggies, but there are also a few beneficial flowers as well.

Here is a link to our Online Market.  You will need to create an account to begin ordering, (we suggest you use the same email address and password to keep things simple.)  If you have shopped with us on the Online Market in the past, like during 2020 or 2021 please give me a call and we can edit your customer preferences to be more conducive to being a Traditional CSA customer, and picking up your order at your pick up site!  Here is a link to registering to create an account on our online market.  Please feel free to give me a call at 814-221-7177, if you have any itch of trouble or questions creating an account.  It’s really not worth getting frustrated over, please just stop and give me a call.

Please choose Customer Type: TRADCSA (Traditional CSA customers only)

We will accept Credit Cards, and checks only.  All types are credit cards are accepted.

The order window will open from Tuesday Mornings at 8am and close Sunday at 11:30pm.  You will then receive your order the following week on your pick up day.  We are excited to use this platform as it’s way more flexible with it’s order periods and it also allows us to have all of our inventory in one place.

For Mother’s Day we had beautiful weather!  We went birding as a family on a path across the river from the farm.  We got to admire thousands of Caddisflies and all the birds that this burst of Caddisflies brought in.  At one time we sat with our backs against trees and both Chris and I had one of our sons leaning back and looking up through binoculars at an amazing flush of migrating Cedar Wax Wings.  Wow!  It was awesome.  Our first son was named after this bird, so it was extra special for him to get such a good look at them.

We hope that you all were able to have a peaceful weekend and basque in some of that amazing Sunday sun!  Holy Moly do those rays feel welcoming!  The warmth of the sun to me feels just as good as a hug from my Mum!  Always comforting and delightful.  Then this afternoon there was a warm breeze!  Sweet cucumbers are we ready for the warmer weather!

Elmer Hostetler, an Amish gentleman and his family, have been building out our new pack-shed this winter.  This was a long awaited expansion, that had we known it would be built during major inflation then I think we would have built it earlier!

Well Elmer’s son told Chris one day this mid winter that he saw a rainbow in the west and that this meant “farmers rest”!  The saying goes, Rainbow in the west, farmers rest.  Wow you gotta love these one liners of folks who live close to the land and have these tales that really do represent reality.  They weren't kidding.  It has truly been a very cool spring.

Cheers to warmer weather and sunshine!

Your Farmers,
Chris and Aeros
