These Peruvian fruits, also sometimes called “Golden Berries” are a good source of calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, fiber, vitamins C and A, and thiamine. Aguaymanto is also a good source of antioxidants. They have an almost tart-orange flavor.

Storage Tips:

Leave the husks on the cherries until ready to eat them. They can be stored in a mesh bag in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. They can also be frozen. Remove the husks and wash, then add to a freezer bag and freeze for 2–3 months.

Uses:

Aguaymanto can be used to make juice, in dessert recipes such as shaved ice and Flan, in Ceviche recipes, and jams. These fruits are also delicious dehydrated!
