CSA Summer Newsletter: June 19th, 2023 (Week 4/23)

Hi Folks,

The weather has been so beautiful!  I hope you all have spent some time enjoying it.

I’m reminded today of how critical it is to be kind, understanding and positive with each other.  Sounds pretty obvious, maybe, but from our personal experience hashing out some issues with some of you, your kindness and understanding makes us feel super thankful.

Sure, we’re upset if we make a mistake on our end or a mistake is made somewhere else and we go on and on and on about how to fix the issue.  But outside the drama, that kindness and understanding that we can share while fixing issues is recharging and contagious.  I think that empathy is bound in trust.  It’s critical that you all trust us.

From there, we can look at each other as we look at ourselves and know that we are capable of making mistakes just like anyone.  Sure we’re doing the absolute best we can with the energy in our bodies and the resources available just like all of you in what it is you dedicate your time and life to.  From our point of view, it feels like life or death ensuring that all is smooth and easy on your end.  We want you all to really enjoy this food and the experience.  We want it all to be so good that you come RUNNING back for more!!!!  So, we can get very upset if some of you experience issues with pickup or whatever.

Given the inevitability of issues at some point with all this produce being shipped around, this letter is a strong thank you for your kindness and empathy in the face of all the other stuff going on in life on your end that is poking you.  We do our best to do the same and love working together to hash out some of these issues.  I swear sometimes the issues barely seem to be an obstacle, but rather more of an opportunity to chat on the phone and get to know each other a little bit.

Thanks for that.

The fireflies are raging out here as of last night!!!  It’s a disco in the fields with their sparkling lights.  They are a great sign that the sun is at its peak, with the Summer Solstice.  We are being graced with 15 hours of light, and 9 hours of darkness at the moment!!!  The codependent cycle between plants, animals and the sun is a life production in full force!  Feel the sun vibes!!!  If you don’t get out in the sun much, try too.  It’s a blessed thing to treat yourself to more!  Chris and I both have tried to expose our eyes to more direct sunlight, no sunglasses, just bright sun, in the early morning for about 10-15 minutes.  Not staring directly into the light but just getting the exposure into our eyes.  This morning light exposure is good to help set your circadian rhythm, enabling good sleep.
