CSA Summer Newsletter: July 11th, 2022 (Week 7/23)

Howdy Folks,

Well the heat is on and the melons must be exuding a wonderful smell that the racoons go bonkers for, as the melon patch has been discovered.  Every year Chris says “the melons are getting rocked by coons”, then melon season rolls in and holy moly are we lucky Chris loves Melons, as he usually plants enough to share with the Coons.  That’s a wise trick of any farmer.  Plant more than you need, to curb for loss and sharing.

It’s hot and remember when you are uncomfortable the veggies are happy!  They are all growing, making fruit and trucking along.

Fruit Shares start next week.  Woolf Farms doesn’t have enough peaches for us this peach season, as their harvest is small this year.  So we are making arrangements to pick up “Chambersburg peaches”  This is the ideal place in PA for peaches!  If you want to ever enter a fairytale landscape, then go on a drive to south central Pennsylvania and see for yourself the amazing micro climate that they have in the Chambersburg area that is ideal peach growing territory.  We are getting our peaches this season from Durgin Orchards, they come highly recommended by several farmers and orchards in our area.  They are a family farm, and grow a lot of peaches!  I have had their peaches before and I didn’t know it! You also maybe had their peaches in the past and didn’t know it!  Well now you can start getting excited for Durgin Orchard peaches!  We may also be able to sell bulk peaches as well, so keep an eye for this availability in future newsletters.

Stay cool! Stay hydrated!

Your Farmers,

Chris, Aeros and The Who Crew
