Basil is commonly used as an aid for stomach problems and is considered to be of great significance in Ayurvedic medicine, often used historically to reduce stress. It is a good source of Potassium.

Storage Tips:

Trim basil stems at. 45 degree angle and place in a jar with water. Cover the leaves loosely with a plastic bag. Change the water every few days to keep it fresh. The basil should last for about 1 week. Basil can also be frozen! Throw the leaves into boiling water for about 10 second, then quickply dump them in an ice bath. Dry the leaves. Freeze leaves in a baking tray, once completely frozen quickly transfer to a freezer bag.

Uses:

Use fresh basil on top of pizza, thinly slice leaves and add to pasta, blend it into sauces or make pesto with it, add it to soups, make herb butter, and so much more! Basil tea or lemonade is always good too.
