Head Lettuce
Nutrition Information:
Head lettuce contains several vitamins and minerals, including vitamins C, K, and A, and also contains Calcium, Potassium, and Folate. Head lettuce is a good way to stay hydrated, with raw lettuce having a high water content.
Storage Tips:
Lettuce loves the cold! (But keep it above freezing). It should be stored in the fridge in a sealed plastic bag, in an area with good humidity. Wait to wash until just before use, and pat dry or use a salad spinner. Stored correctly, and it should last up to a week. Put lettuce away asap after picking up your share, it doesn’t like to be out of the fridge for long.
Uses:
Lettuce is commonly used as a base for salads, but it can also be a fresh, crunchy addition to sandwiches, added to juices, or grilled whole.
